MONA was born of a single conviction: every line is a thought.

The studio grew from a desire to reunite what is too often held apart: drawing and making, the old and the new. Two gestures that oppose, attract and complete one another — to design and to build, from the first sketch to the final handover.

Damien Maciejewski, architect HMONP, founded MONA after a dual training: four years of interior architecture, graduating with distinction in design, then four years of architecture, earning the HMONP with the commendation of the jury. From this duality springs the studio's approach: to honour what exists, to reinvent its uses, and to hold a constant attention to light, materials and detail.

From his student years he practised independently — furniture, restaurants, apartments and hotels, from drawing to delivery. He then joined several Parisian practices — Abinal & Ropars, ArcAme, Jean-Paul Viguier et Associés and Brenac & Gonzalez — where, as project manager, he led operations of great scale: residences, offices, hotels and high-rise buildings, from concept to site. Years of practice that forged a rare technical rigour and a mastery of execution. MONA was born of this path: the freedom of the designer, allied to the discipline of the site.

From private houses to exceptional apartments, from workplaces to boutiques, every project tells a story bound to its setting and to those who inhabit it. An acknowledged lineage — the spirit of the Bauhaus, of the Atelier de Montrouge, of Jean Prouvé: craftsmanship and tradition, reinterpreted.

“To drift with the wind is the ambition of a dead leaf.”
